James Gunn announced during Adopt-a-Dog Month that Krypto, Superman’s dog, will appear in the upcoming ‘Superman 2025′ movie

Krypto the Superdog will appear in James Gunn ‘s upcoming “Superman,” the director confirmed on social media Tuesday. He made the announcement in honor of October being Adopt a Shelter Dog month.

While Krypto the Superdog wasn’t originally set to be in the film, Gunn explained that he adopted a pup named Ozu shortly after he began writing the script, and it inspired Krypton’s inclusion in the upcoming project starring David Corenswet.

In a touching story shared on social media, Gunn wrote how "Krypto came into the script & changed the shape of the story as Ozu was changing my life."

When Superman flies into theaters next summer, the Man of Steel will have man’s best friend by his side. James Gunn revealed Krypto, Superman’s loyal superdog, will appear alongside the titular hero in Superman.

In some sweet context, Gunn also revealed that Krypto was inspired by his own dog Ozu. He and his wife, Peacemaker actress Jennifer Holland, adopted the dog shortly after Gunn started writing Superman, and Ozu "came from a hoarding situation in a backyard with 60 other dogs & never knew human beings, was problematic to say the least."

It looks like Superman won’t be flying solo when James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy hits theaters in 2025 as he’ll be having a special friend by his side who’ll be making his own cinematic debut after only existing on print for decades.
