The former French president was jailed in October for conspiring to fund his election campaign with money from late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

Nicolas Sarkozy will be released from jail today after his lawyers appealed his conviction for being part of a criminal conspiracy to seek election funding from Libya.

Sarkozy, 70, became the first former French head of state in modern times to be sent behind bars after his conviction on Sept. 25.
