Rwanda’s health minister said Sunday that an outbreak of the Marburg virus is not spreading in the country, citing the absence of new infections or deaths in the past six days.

This highly lethal virus, a cousin of Ebola, is striking the country for the first time. Rwanda has received, in three weeks, 1,700 doses of vaccine and treatment to be assessed.

The CDC has issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Rwanda due to an outbreak of the Marburg virus. The agency will also screen travelers from Rwanda.
