Police urged anyone in the area to be cautious, especially if they have children and pets. Anyone who sees the mountain lion can call the state officials at 707-428-2002 or Brentwood police at 925-809-7911. People may also call 9-1-1 if they see the lion.
A 4-year-old was rushed to the trauma center after being mauled by a mountain lion in Washington state. The child had been hiking with family near the Victoria Overlook area on Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park when they were set upon by the big cat,
"Jumped from the ground straight up!" A Brentwood homeowner's security camera captured the mountain lion, which hopped from the fence into the backyard before scurrying away.
A mountain lion was spotted on surveillance video at a home in Brentwood. The incident occurred Tuesday morning at a home in the area of Fairview Avenue and San Jose Drive. Brentwood police said it has notified California Department of Fish and Wildlife rangers of the sighting.
Rangers searched for the cougar immediately after the attack and were later joined by a canine team, the National Park Service said in a statement.
