A federal judge in Miami has ordered Florida to shut down and dismantle its controversial immigrant detention site known as “Alligator Alcatraz.” The ruling gives the state 60 days to remove all facilities and restore the area.

A federal judge on Thursday ordered that no more immigrant detainees be sent to a center in the Florida Everglades, and that much of the facility be dismantled.

Judge Kathleen Williams, on the bench for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, late Thursday formalized her injunction from two weeks ago.
