NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Paul Cotter and Jesper Bratt scored in the shootout, and the New Jersey Devils beat the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Monday night for their third win in four games.

Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes bumped into Jesper Bratt and his fiancée in his hotel in Boston during the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off in late February.

Filip Gustavsson made 26 saves for the Wild (41-28-6), who have lost three of their past four (1-2-1). Hughes gave the Devils a 1-0 lead at 12:30 of the first period on a wrist shot from the left face-off circle. Vinnie Hinostroza made it 1-1 for the Wild when he deflected a point shot from Jake Middleton in the slot at 2:57 of the third period.

Nathan Bastian gave the Devils a 1-0 lead at 6:23 of the first period when he tipped in a centering pass from Hughes at the top of the crease. Bastian was a scratch in a 4-3 shootout loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday.

Bratt is one of the most impactful players on the Devils roster at this time. Through 71 games, the Swedish forward has 20 goals to go along with his 61 assists. He currently leads all New Jersey skaters in points, with injured forward Jack Hughes coming second with 70 points in 62 games.
