Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is trying to use her recent positive relationship with President Donald Trump to get some breaks for her state — on both tariffs and Medicaid changes.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer continues to have President Donald Trump’s ear and met with him in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday to discuss the impact in Michigan of tariffs and cuts to Medicaid in the latest federal budget.

It's not the first time the Michigan governor has met with the president amid economic and Medicaid concerns in the state.
