With many of the Sox’ better prospects now on the major-league roster, showing improvement after the break is important for the next step of their rebuild. They completed their first series sweep of the season with a 7-2 victory Sunday over the Pirates.
Pirates second baseman Nick Gonzales hit a ball in between infield and outfield and White Sox left fielder Michael A. Taylor just missed it on the basket catch. Taylor then threw it wayward, as Gonzales made it to third base on the error.
Khalifa took the mound for Sunday’s Pittsburgh Pirates - Chicago White Sox game to close out the Pirates’ annual Yinzerpalooza Weekend. Pittsburgh celebrated the occasion with a 7-2 loss, giving the White Sox their first sweep of 2024.
The Pittsburgh Pirates honored late rapper Mac Miller by giving away special bobbleheads at their home game against the Chicago White Sox.
Edgar Quero also homered for Chicago, taking Pirates starter Bailey Falter (6-5) deep in the first inning as the White Sox jumped on Pittsburgh early to win for just the 12th time in 48 road games this season. Andrew Benintendi and Colson Montgomery added two hits and drove in two runs apiece for Chicago.
