Multiple families have been displaced after a large fire burned through the roof of an apartment building in Chesapeake, causing it to collapse.

The fire broke out at the Thrive Apartment Complex in the Deep Creek area of the city a little after 1 p.m. Chesapeake Fire officials said the fire began on the second floor of an apartment building. The fire ultimately impacted eight apartment units, displacing 10 families.
