People who applied for a new passport and chose to receive it by mail will get it once Canada Post resumes service. If you mailed in a passport application before the strike started, there’s a chance that Service Canada did not receive it and will not be able to process the application until the dispute is over.

The CUPW says Canada Post has been calling workers across the country to lay them off, and claimed some of the layoffs were permanent, which Canada Post denies.

Management said "a limited number of employees" have been impacted and employees who "have been laid off have been contacted directly."

The Canada Post strike rounds out week two, and while many have turned to other services to send their mail those living in rural communities aren't offered the same luxuries.
