Two Sudanese brothers are charged with running "Anonymous Sudan," one of the most prolific cyberattack-for-hire gangs of all time.

Multiple firms, including Amazon, CrowdStrike and Microsoft, aided the Justice Department in efforts that took down Anonymous Sudan’s main tooling in March.

Federal prosecutors charged two Sudanese brothers Wednesday with running one of the most prolific cyberattack-for-hire gangs of all time, a small group they blamed for a stunning 35,000 denial-of-service attacks in a single year.

The two brothers were allegedly behind Anonymous Sudan, a major perpetrator of DDoS attacks that targeted companies including Microsoft, OpenAI and Yahoo.

Ahmed Salah Yousif Omer and Alaa Salah Yusuuf Omer face federal indictments for a series of targeted hacks that aimed to cause financial and physical harm to organizations, hospitals and companies across the globe.
