Shyer's second film, a man must lean on his eldest daughter from his first marriage after his second wife leaves unexpectedly leaves him with their two young kids.

Art gallery owner Andy Goodrich (Michael Keaton) must learn to be a father when his second wife goes to rehab.

Goodrich gets the most mileage, dramatically and comedically, out of Andys personal success, and Keatons performance is the key to that success.
