Although pretty, the smell is overwhelming and disgusting. There are also many rotting bird corpses all over the place from hunters not retrieving all their birds. You may be tempted to go here, but … Full review by Sean L

Stopped here while driving west from the airport. The scenery is beautiful, and it is eerily quiet. Entry is $10. The staff was there, but didn't say much unless you asked a question. Visitor center … Full review by craig1086

(801) 250-1898 or (801) 828-0787. You can also access the lake at Antelope Island State Park. We did not go there because we only had a short time to visit. Try calling them. (801) 773-2941.

Yes, you can, but make sure you have a way to clean off afterwards, because I did not notice any beach showers or anything there. I only waded in the lake, and my feet felt really grimy, more than they do when I swim in the Atlantic Ocean, afterwards. (It's not dirt, it's the extra salt that does it.)
What are some good access points with prime views of the Great Salt Lake, if coming from the airport (in August)? I'd like to see it before we head into Salt Lake City. Any advice appreciated.

One nice view is to head west on Interstate #80 towards Nevada. That's where you will find the Great Salt Lake State Park. If you continue driving west on 80, you will see the lake on your right the entire way; there are also some salt companies harvesting salt (like Morton's). If you continue for an hour or so, you will come to the Bonneville Salt Flats where they race cars (bikes, airplanes, etc.) It is worth the drive.
