we did the 1 day private hike. it was a 5 mile hike once we got up to the wall which was an hour and a half hike. was worth every minute of climibing. it was the most remarkable thing you will probably ever see in your life. we hiked on the original part of the wall passed about 10 peeople in about 4 hours. then we got to the end where the newer and rebuilt section was. what a difference like night and day, hundreds of people and a wall that has been redone probably on a daily basis. also if you are using great wall hiking ask for danny he was a great guide. dont miss the real great wall. mf

Their people were all fabulous and the experience from booking to hiking couldn't have been easier. Enjoy!!!!

I agree with the other answers - we tipped 200/100 Yuan per day to the guide and driver. They were brilliant and deserved every penny. (We had Robert and Jason)

I do not recall what we gave, but it must have been around 10-20 eur for the two of us. This seems little compared to the price of the tour, but is a good tip for them. They do expect a tip, but will not be offended if you give only a small amount. Our guide was very discrete, and did not put any direct or indirect pressure to get something end of the day. Expect a guide and a driver: 20 eur in total would be a good amount!
