We stayed at Sanibel Inn on the southwest end of the island, thus most familiar with that stretch of beach, which is great for paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, etc! I will say all Sanibel beaches are ok for paddle boarding, however, my disclaimer is this...our Sanibel Inn beach was or at least seemed to have more 'calm' seas, ie, less big waves, which makes for better paddle boarding! The 'south' light house end of the island, as well as the 'north' Captiva bridge end of the island have a little rougher seas, not to belittle the RIP tides and currents associated with entrances to inlet waterways, thus basic water 'safety' should be considered at all times, making sure life vests are worn and fit properly at all times! As far as paddle boarding at Bowman's Beach? I say go for it!
Q:
Wanted to ask a question about fishing from the pier.... do you know can you rent poles and bait or is it all locals? Thanks
A:
There are several places to rent fishing gear
Q:
Hidden public Places to park?
A:
If you follow Periwinkle Parkway to the end, there is a large public lot right adjacent to the beach. Walk the beach to the left to the lighthouse and pier.
