Hi John, The scuba dive was the first for my two (young adult) sons, so we didn't go that deep -- maybe 25 or 30 feet? There were experienced / certified divers on board and they went off on their own. The weather when we went out was rough (owing to a cyclone farther north), so there was a lot of debris in the water, making the viewing limited. Having said that, the reef appeared to be in good shape for the type of diving we did. The package that reserves a seat on the upper deck was absolutely worth it. We had our own guide in the water who, when on board, brought the food and drink to us. And the rough seas en transit didn't cause seasickness for us because of big windows and room to spread out. Meanwhile, crowded seating and smaller windows downstairs made life downstairs pretty grim.

We went with Reef Experience in September this year, which is the day tour. Reef Encounter is their live aboard experience. We booked directly with them. We booked the Top Deck experience and had our own guide for the day who took us scuba diving and snorkeling. We also got to do a snorkel experience with the on board marine biologist. The food was delicious and the staff were fun and friendly. I was not confident with the snorkeling at first, but the staff were patient and attentive. We had a great time. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
