I just returned from a day touring Dakar, including Goreia Island. While I found the island visit and a following city tour interesting, the primary purpose in this review is to introduce the capabilities of Mika Guisse, my guide during the Goreia Island visit. As a single traveler, one of the challenges in visiting Dakar and most cities in West Africa is identifying capable tour guides who can handle all details from airport transfers to hotels to sightseeing. For Dakar, Mika proved his capabilities. He has recently put together a pretty good website, Trip Tours Senegal, and is able to handle tours to Dakar and San Luis in Senegal, and the nearby cities of Banjul, Gambia and Nouakchott, Mauritania. Knowing where to find these capabilities is invaluable when planning to visit countries in West Africa.
